2020.09.26 22:56 kenovera 22348(b) Stockton, San Joaquin County, 104 in 65

I have read the 12 step guide. ticket Here’s my ticket with all the information. If I’m missing something in this post please let me know. I’ve been really sad and shaken up after this whole affair, I 19 M was driving home from Santa Cruz last night in my girlfriends car while she slept, I drive a 2010 Dodge Charger while her car is a 2014 Hyundai Accent, I noticed where I normally rest my foot on my car I would see 60 fairly quickly while in hers I had to really push just to crack past 40. So I was pushing it more and trying to find the sweet spot the whole ride home but couldn’t, the officer happened upon me while I was pushing it decently hard apparently but I really don’t know how it could have been all the way at 104 my intention was just to get home so I wasn’t paying attention to my speed hardly at all I was just driving normally I thought, he pulled me over while there was only his car, mine and one other in front of us on the road, he said his car was going 102 and his radar clocked me at 104 but I could have swore that I pulled in front of him and he had to have been only a car or two distance behind me so if we were really going past 100mph why was he going that fast before I even made it to him? I don’t really remember the events clearly so maybe I’m wrong I don’t know. He has me on radar and mvars is checked. It’s my first offense and it’s possible I could have been going past 100 but not likely. He has my court date the day I’m in Los Angeles looking for an apartment, I’m planning on moving in November. I guess this is all my long winded way of asking for advice and help about if it’s even worth trying to fight or should I just pay it, take the 2 points and spend the next 7 years hoping I never have another interaction? Since I’m not going to be there on the set date I was thinking about my options and was wondering what may be the best one in the eyes of this Reddit. 1) I pay the ticket online when it shows up and just cut my losses since I won’t be able to be there on the day. 2) I try to postpone the court date to a day I will be there but then I may get a trial day while I’m supposed to be in Los Angeles and have to represent myself, I’m a decent talker and MAY do okay in front of a judge but I don’t know all too much about the secret ins and outs of the right and wrong things to say in court 3) I hire an attorney to show up in my place and take it to trial for me, would that be worth it? Between court fees, lawyer fees and the actual ticket would it just be a wiser decision to simply accept my fate? Or is there any other option I may have? Please I know it’s not a very straightforward question like most posts but I feel so stuck and have no idea what to do, thank you.

2020.09.25 20:35 Rsubs33 [Game Preview] Week 3 - Cincinnati Bengals (0-2) at Philadelphia Eagles(0-2)

Cincinnati Bengals (0-2) at Philadelphia Eagles (0-2)
The Eagles are off to their worst start with a real coach since 2003 (I consider 2013-2015 non-existent) when they also dropped their first two games of the season. The team would like a repeat of that season where following a week 3 bye,the team rebounded to defeat the Bills 23-13. The Eagles ripped off 12 wins in their remaining 14 games following their 0-2 start. Maybe the Eagles will be able to do the same, but they will have to shake the injury bug first. The Eagles will be without first round pick Jalen Raegor this week who underwent surgery on his hand to repair a torn UC ligament in his thumb. The Eagles may also be without Fletcher Cox who is dealing with an oblique injury. The Cox injury should be watched closely if he can’t go, Joe Mixon and Joe Burrow will have a much easier day against the struggling defense. Last week against the Rams, the defense was under prepared and unable to stop anyone. The Rams took advantage of Jim Schwartz’s consistently odd decision to have his CBs, play so far off the line of scrimmage, giving a free release to the WRs and allowing easy short passes. If Schwartz does the same this week, it will be another long day for the Eagles defense and a great fantasy day for Tyler Boyd, who Bengals Joe Burrow connected with 7 times last week including 1 for a TD. On the other side of the ball Doug and Carson will both need to be better than the last two weeks. For Carson, he needs to get out of his own head and play with confidence. For Doug, he needs to find some creativity and help his 5th year QB. He would do well to get Carson moving and utilize the RBs more in the flat and screen game. However, if we see more of the same we saw in weeks 1 and 2 from the Eagles coaching staff, we should expect another loss. Hopefully that is not the case and Carson and the coaches can learn from their mistakes in weeks 1-2 and pull our a win this week. Go Birds!

Recap from Last Week’s Games.
Eagles - The Eagles' struggles continued in their home opener against the Los Angeles Rams. An early fumble by Miles Sanders led to a Rams touchdown by Tyler Higbee. After the Eagles cut their deficit to four with a Jake Elliott field goal, Los Angeles responded with a Robert Woods touchdown run followed by a second Higbee touchdown catch. Trailing 21-3, the Eagles closed the deficit to five points by halftime with touchdown runs by Wentz and Sanders. After forcing a three-and-out on the Rams' first possession of the second half, the Eagles would drive to the Los Angeles 21, only for Wentz's first down pass to be picked off by Darious Williams, turning the momentum back in the Rams' favor as they would outscore the Eagles 16-3 the rest of the way. Despite not being sacked once during the game, Wentz finished the day with a 56.5 passer rating, completing 26 of 43 passes for 242 yards and two interceptions. The 37-19 blowout loss dropped Philadelphia to 0-2 for the first time since the 2015 season, and marked the Eagles' first home opener loss since that same season. It was also the first home loss to the Rams franchise since the opener of the 2001 season.
Bengals - After losing their regular season-opening game at home, the Bengals then traveled to Cleveland to face the Browns for Battle of Ohio Round 1. In the first quarter, the Bengals scored first when Randy Bullock kicked a 38-yard field goal to make it 3-0. Though, the Browns took the lead when Nick Chubb ran for an 11-yard TD to make it 7-3. In the second quarter, the Browns went up by double digits when Baker Mayfield found O'dell Beckham Jr. on a 43-yard TD pass to make it 14-3. The Bengals then came within 4 after Joe Burrow found C.J. Uzomah on a 23-yard TD pass to make it 14-10. Mayfield then found Kareem Hunt on a 6-yard TD pass to put the Browns up by double digits, 21-10. The Bengals closed out the half when Randy Bullock kicked a 43-yard field goal to make it 21-13 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Browns went back up by double digits when Chubb ran for a 1-yard TD to make it 28-13. The Bengals drew closer with Bullock's 27-yard field goal to make it 28-16. In the fourth quarter, the Bengals were able to get within 5 when Burrow found Mike Thomas on a 4-yard TD pass to make the score 28-23. Though, the Browns would go back up by double digits yet again when Hunt punched the ball in for a 1-yard TD to make it 35-23. The Bengals wrapped up the scoring when Burrow found Tyler Boyd on a 9-yard TD pass to make the final score 35-30.

Stats to Know
QB Adjusted Completion %
What’s one thing rookie Joe Burrow and 5th-year Carson Wentz have in common? They have not been terribly accurate so far. PFF has an Adjusted Completion % stat that accounts for clear drops, spikes, throw aways, batted passes, and throws made while getting hit. Burrow and Wentz are near the bottom in AC%, with 70.4 and 70.3, respectively. Interesting to note a bit of the distribution within the array of aforementioned stats: while Burrow has had one of the lower rates of on-target passes dropped by the receiver (4.1%), Wentz doubled that at 8.4%, good for 5th-highest. Yes, Wentz has stunk, but...
Matchups to Watch
Rookie versus Veteran, Which QB Has Poise Down 0-2?
With two consecutive weeks of porous defense from both the Eagles and Bengals defensive units, this Sunday's matchup should rest squarely on the shoulders of each offensive unit. Will the Eagles be able to rely on fifth year starter Wentz? Will he be able to shake off two tumultuous weeks and put together a consistent offensive performance? Will the Bengals weapons coalesce around their rookie Burrow? Will he be able to put together his first complete NFL game and demonstrate that this season is the turning point for the franchise? A big piece of Wentz stabilizing his game time performance will be continuing his focus on short-time-to-throw plays. From Week 1 with 8 sacks versus the Washington Football Team to Week 2 and zero sacks versus the Rams with the vaunted Aaron Donald, the Eagles Offensive Line and Wentz’ pocket choices resulted in less lost yards and broken plays. Unfortunately, key turnovers again forced short-yardage scoring situations and massive tempo swings. Wentz needs to take advantage of the cleaner pocket that will likely be available versus the Bengals (2 sacks on the year so far) and finish drives cleanly to put the game away. Without rookie WR Jalen Reagor (placed on IR with a thumb injury after Week 2), Wentz will have to make use of the remainder of his threats, including veteran DeSean Jackson who had 6 catches on 9 targets for 64 yards against the superior Rams’ defensive backfield. Joe Burrow has had the classic introductory NFL QB experience. A high-flying game versus the Browns last week, with 300+ yards passing, 3TDs and zero ints was fantastic bounce back from Week 1 versus the Chargers. 193 yards, 0 TDs, and an int will not win the game for the Bengals versus the Eagles, even if Wentz struggles. A key focus for Burrow will be settling into the routine and relationships he’s formed with his offensive weapons. AJ Green remains one of the best WR threats in the NFL and his slow start to the season (8 catches for 80 yards) could end at any time, in any game with a QB like Burrow. Burrow threw a nearly record setting number of passes during the almost-come-from-behind loss versus the Browns; if the Bengals are able to establish their run-game and abuse the Philadelphia secondary in a similar way to the Rams offensive scheme, then Burrow could have a very big day. If he is forced to drop back 60+ times, and Joe Mixon is again held under 75 yards on the ground, the Bengals and Burrow may have a hard time. Keep an eye on how comfortable each QB is feeling, and whether they can establish good tempo. That will be key to offensive production this weekend.
Coaching Conundrum; Pederson versus Taylor
At the core of the NFL these days is the combat between offensive and defensive schemes. Both coaches come from a background of coaching QB play and offensive schemes, though from different eras and coaching trees. How they go about using that experience to enable their teams to a secure a necessary win this week will make or break their seasons. Doug Pederson, at the helm of a revamped offensive coaching tree with the addition of Quarterbacks Coach Press Taylor as Passing Game Coordinator, has had a rough three year stretch of offensive stumbles. Since the miraculous Super Bowl 52 season (2017), the Eagles have consistently failed to be productive, with a lot of the challenges relating to lack of roster depth and poor player improvement through misaligned coaching. This is the third consecutive year of stuttering offense to begin the season and a big piece of the matchup versus the Bengals will be how well the Eagles can settle in. Coach Pederson has made it clear that the lack of full-speed off-season practice plays a big role in the Eagle’s struggles so far; so it remains to be seen when and if both units can make use of this gametime practice to solidify the small flashes of prior success we’ve seen. Opposite Pederson is Coach Taylor, in his second year of a complete rebuild, now with the (ideally career-long) franchise WB in Burrow. Hailing from the Shanahan line, through the LA Rams McVay, Taylor was brought into Cincinnati to recreate the organization’s coaching structure and form a new core for the team around veteran WR AJ Green. The 2019 season showed marked improvement throughout, particularly in run production and passer protection; the addition of Covid-related practice limitations have also taken their toll on the Bengals’ preparations for this season, as exemplified by the Week 1 drubbing by the Ravens. Taylor returns this season with second-year offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, formerly the QB coach for the Raiders. The cerebral talent in the Bengals organization is clearly arrayed around giving Burrow the best possible chance to shine; and they may just do so against an extremely poorly performing Eagles defense. Being able to establish consistent offensive strength and consistency throughout this season will be a key part of whether this new coaching structure is able to flourish in Cincinnati or if yet more change is needed to remake the franchise. During game day, keep an eye out on how these coaches make use of their star players, now that the very early season yips and stumbles should be behind them. Whoever can appropriately adjust to the flow of the game and take advantage of the others mistakes will win this football game.
The Big Punt: How Special Teams Makes An Impact
Kevin versus Cameron, Huber versus Johnston, two players that may very well decide the nature of this Bengals versus Eagles matchup. These titans of the turf, two punters to rule them all, and two punters to pin them deep; two punters waiting on call, and two punters to make fans weep. In lieu of offensive production, and in hopes of good defensive play, Kevin Huber and Cameron Johnston bring their punting prowess to Lincoln Financial Field this Sunday. Hailing from opposite sides of the Earth, Huber from Cincinnati itself, and Johnston from Geelong Australia, these two are some of the most capable foot-based deliverers of the football to opposing teams. Huber holds nearly all of the Bengals franchise records in punting statistics; and Johnston holds the highest gross and net punting averages in a single Eagles season. The third year Australian punter is known by Eagles fans for his insanely long hang-time and penchant for pinning the NY Giants inside the 20 (20+ times in four games). Huber is loved by the Bengals fanbase as both their longest tenured player and his consistency over the past 13 years. He has missed just 2 of 180 possible games, and has been perennially top 10 at his position. Both players are in the final year of their contracts, so effective performance is a must for maximum salary gains. Keep an eye out on how effective these two are in establishing and keeping good field position. If both teams are struggling for consistency, these swings may be the key to a late drive that puts the game away. Additionally, with every punt comes the magic of a muffed punt return. If you’re a particular connoisseur of special teams play, watch and see if these punters add any special spin or location to their strikes; and key turnover last week in this position kept the Eagles hopeful. Maybe lightning will strike twice for the Eagles Special Teams and the Wizard with the Large Leg, Cam Johnston; maybe the Bengals gunners will scoop up a muff and Huber will be huger than expected. Stay tuned!

2020.09.25 17:48 MelyMonsta92 Going on vacation across the country with my friend’s sister, is she into me?

This is a long 3 part story but I’m pretty sure it’s entertaining yet very chaotic. So my good friend that I’ve known for about 5 years now has a sister who I’ll tell you right now is beyond gorgeous. It doesn’t matter but to back that up she has near 70K followers on IG, she’s also a decently paid DJ, and she’s dated this one millionaire for most of the time I’ve known her. She is closing in on 29 years old. So let’s start.
Background on me really quick: So I’m a 27 yo male, and over the last two years I went through a drastic transformation. I’m 5’7 and went from weighing 200 pounds to 160 pounds. I’ve incorporated a heavy weightlifting regimen and I do have some muscles as well, no I am not a meathead or look anything like I’m ripped. You can tell I have muscles though.
So in February of this year I met up with my friend in the city. At a certain point he said his sister was going to meet up with us, I haven’t seen her in over a year so I said cool and thought nothing of it. She arrives and the whole time she is complimenting my transformation and being very supportive. I think nothing of it for two reasons. First, she is known for always being super nice, and she has a very bubbly personality. This is important to remember. Second, even though I am in better shape, I suffer from body dysmorphia and I have low confidence because I’ve spent most of my life being really fat. I actually know I have a respectable looking face, I know I’m not ugly, but the way I feel and confidence is different. So we finish the night, and on my way home she texts me saying, “It was really great to see you tonight, we should get together soon, even if it’s without my brother.” I’m thrown off guard and I don’t look too much into it. It’s also important to note that she became single again. After that unfortunately the pandemic hit and that ends part 1 of the story.
Moving forward to July, I haven’t really spoken to her much, but I posted something on IG one day and she reached out saying, “You should’ve told me you were there, I would’ve met up with you. I explained, “ I forgot she worked in the area, next time for sure.” She then ask if I’m off the next day which surprisingly I was, and that I should go to the beach with her. She said we can pick up some alcohol and just relax on the beach, and then go out for food. I said to myself, “screw it, why not?” So the next day I head over to her house, she invited her brother out of being polite knowing he’d say know because he is very cheap and a known house hermit. Yet When I get there he comes outside, and he’s visibly angry, it was obvious he didn’t want me hanging with his sister. He spoke to me so bland, and his sister just rushed me in the car to get out of there. We end up having this pretty amazing day at the beach, we really connected well in my opinion, and she was pretty flirtatious. Like I said, she is known for being extremely nice so I can’t really pick her signals too well. If this was any other women I would’ve thought, “Oh yeah, she’s into me.” It’s funny, because she also told me to my face that she’s been way too picky with men and that she’s willing to open up her high standards. She mentioned her maternal clock so I understand that point, be it as random as it may be. We end up hanging out for 9 hours and we get back to her house around 10 at night. She told me to reach out to her when I got home. Once I got home, I decided to just be direct so I could understand the situation. I sent her this exact message “Today was a really good time, being upfront with you I feel we have some solid chemistry, unless I misread that, If you’re open to feeling that out we should get together soon and set something up. If not, I still had an amazing time with you today.” She actually replied, “ I would love that! Let’s plan more tomorrow”. I was shocked but here’s where i gets bad. I reach out to her the next day and I get no reply, I left it at that and let the situation be. Now we’re on to part 3 and the biggest part of the story.
Moving forward to a few days ago, I was meeting with her brother again in the city, we had something planned to do together, surprisingly enough once I met him in the city it turns out he brought his sister. I haven’t spoken to her since but I acted like I never sent that text and easily kept my composure like a champ. We were actually visiting a pretty cool site in the city, she was talking to me a lot, staying close to me a lot, I thought nothing of it honestly because of previous experience. We get to a cool sculpture at this exhibit where basically you can walk on clear glass and you can see like 20 floors below you. Her brother and I walked on it no problem, but she remained back. I was encouraging her to do it, but she was hesitant in a funny way. Then she said,”I’ll make you a deal, come over here and hold my hand and walk me around it.” I’m not an idiot so of course I went to do so. Fast forward a few hours later and this is the most important part of the story. We’re talking over a few drinks, she explained casually cause her brother was there that the day we went to the beach, once she got home her brother chewed her apart for hanging with me and told her to never be with me again alone. She then asked me my advice on Los Angeles, as I go pretty often. When I explained she said, “oh my god, we should go to LA next month. I said sure why not, thinking this was one of those friend moments where people say they want to do something but never do it. One day passes and I decide to test her, I reach out and I said, “ Hey *****, if you’re serious about LA let’s pick a weekend and book it.” Long story short we actually booked a trip to LA next month and she was not bluffing. It’s set in stone.
So what’s the whole point of this post? Well, I am generally confused with the situation and I am trying to understand in your opinion if you believe she’s actually interested, being super friendly, or something else. I’m meeting up with her on Sunday to discuss the details for the trip, like what we’re doing, where should we stay, etc. Also it’s important to know that the brother will not know any of this going on, but I’m not asking for any advice on the bromance or our friendship. Should I be direct with her and just say in person that I’d like to know what’s going on, or should I wait for LA and see what happens there? I would like to see where things can go because I feel like she has really good potential with what I’m looking for, I’m not just looking to smash and wouldn’t disrespect her in that way.

Should you tier and/or pull? In the words of kachx:
The event Nico is a decent SP filler, if your Pure team is weak I would recommend trying to go for an extra copy in tier as her stats are not the worst. The Hanamaru in gacha is also a very strong SP filler who can work great in any Cool team, while the Kanata is really only here to be pretty at most.

Mari UR Smile Sp LINK

Should you pull? According to kachx:
Mari is a decent SP Voltage booster but her Appeal is not crazy high. She's not a mandatory carry but if you happen to pull her, she's a good addition to a Sp subunit, but not really recommended as primary Smile carry.

Yes, the update is still coming

KLab teased us yet again with more features that will be arriving in the forthcoming app update, including Level Cap Jewels which will let you raise your URs' max levels beyond 100, and the new customizable backgrounds during Live Shows. The update should be coming any day now; their in-game news item says "October" so probably not before the next event (which, judging by the end date of Rhythmic Carnival, will start on September 30.) However I think the update will be coming during the break after the end of the next event.

2020.09.24 20:15 normancrane Iris [2/3]

Part 1
Part 2 <-- You are here.
Part 3 [Soon]
Kurt Schwaller, the foremost theoretical physicist of his time and renowned discoverer of the theory of everything, committed suicide at the age forty-two in the humble bedroom of his Swiss home by swallowing sleeping pills. As far as suicides go, it was graceful and considerate. His husband found him peacefully at rest. He left behind no research, no reports and no working hard drives. He was not terminally ill. He died with his boots off but his computer on, and exactly six hours after his death the computer executed its final chronjob, posting a suicide note to his Facebook page. The note was short and cryptic, and the way in which it spoke so purposefully from beyond the grave unnerved me. It ended: “Like Edith Piaf, I regret nothing. This was not inevitable.” Whether he meant his suicide or something more remained unclear.
“Who’s Kurt Schwaller?” Greta asked.
“He was a very smart scientist,” Jacinda said.
The monitor on the wall was playing Spirited Away. Nobody in the room asked the question that was on everybody’s mind. The internet condensed into a cluster of theories, before exploding as a hysterics of trolling and contradictory evidence. Depending on who was speaking, Kurt Schwaller had either been depressed for years or was the most cheerful person in the world. He simultaneously regretted discovering the theory and considered it the best means of keeping human life sustainable. His death was suspicious, tragic, commendable, prophetic. Some said good riddance. Others said their goodbyes. Yet, as a species, we never quite shook the gnawing belief that he indeed knew something that we didn’t, and that that knowledge was what killed him. His mind may have been as hermetically sealed as the wombs of the women around us, but in his death we sensed our own foretold. I was relieved I didn’t have a daughter to explain that to.
By April 15, no opossums had given birth. By itself that’s not a troubling fact. However, the average gestation period of an opossum is 12 to 13 days. Hamsters, mice and wombats follow with gestation periods of around 20 days, then wombats, chipmunks and squirrels. No recorded births of any of these species occurred in April. Physically, their females looked pregnant but that was as detailed as it got: “The specimens display the ordinary symptoms of pregnancy, but they are displaying them in excess of their expected due dates, although they do remain healthy and function comparatively well to their male counterparts.” My wife and I developed a fascination with a particular family of opossums in Ohio that we watched daily via webcam. We gave them names, we pretended to be their voices. Our opossums had adventures, family squabbles and bouts of stress at work. The daughter, Irene, was rebellious. The son, Ziggy, was a nerd. The dad, whom we dubbed Monsieur Charles, sold insurance and the mom, Yvette, worked as stay-at-home technical support for Amazon. We realized right away that we were already preparing for the storytelling phase of parenthood, but we didn’t stop. As uncertain as the future was, the preparation for it was ours and we enjoyed doing it together. Nothing would take that away from us. When I touched my wife’s body in the shower and pressed the palm of my hand against her tummy, it felt no different than it had felt a month before. There was no hardness, no lumps. It seemed unreal that somewhere beneath her skin, for reasons unknown, her body had produced a substance that was impervious to diamond saw blades and precision lasers—a substance that, at least if you believed the rumours, the Russians were already trying to synthesize to use as tank plating.
For the rest of April it rained. Streaks of water ran crookedly down windowpanes, following the laws of physics but just barely. If you stared long enough at the wet glass you forgot there was anything behind it. Eventually, all you saw was your own distorted reflection. I liked when my wife put her arms around me from behind and pressed her chest against my back. I didn’t feel alone.
Pillow started to show her pregnancy in May. The World Health Organization also amended its initial communique, stating that based on the evidence regarding the prolonged gestations of other mammals, it was no longer able to predict an influx of human births in late December. If mice and gerbils weren’t birthing as predicted, humans might not either. However, the amendment stated, preparations were still proceeding along a nine month timeline, and they were ahead of schedule. When the BBC showed field hospitals in South Sudan, I wondered what the schedule entailed because the images were of skeletal tent-like buildings that despite their newness already had the aura of contamination. My wife said it was naive to expect the same medical standards in developing countries as in developed ones. Perhaps she was right. The BBC repeated the platitude that there wasn’t enough money for everyone, listed the foreign aid and private funds that had come in, and interviewed a tired young doctor who patiently answered questions while wiping sweat from his eyebrows. The United States Supreme Court issued an injunction against the New York Time’s theory of everything evaluation website based on a barrage of challenges from corporations that claimed the website violated their intellectual property. Another website sprang up overnight in Sweden, anonymous and hosted from compact discs. Salvador Abaroa announced a free Tribe of Akna gathering at Wrigley Field. Bakshi called. He and Jacinda had argued, and she’d taken Greta and their car and driven to the gathering in Chicago. We watched it on television. Salvador Abaroa banged his gong and advanced his theories. The world was made of squiggles, not lines, and all this time we’d only been approximating reality in the way an mp3 file approximates sound waves, or the way in which we approximate temperature, by cutting it into neat and stable increments that we mistake as absolutes. Zurich opened its arms for Kurt Schwaller’s funeral, which was interrupted by a streaker baring the logo and slogan of a diaper company. Police tackled the streaker and—for a moment—the mourners cheered. Later, an investigation of Kurt Schwaller’s Dropbox account performed in the name of international security revealed that he had deleted large amounts of files in the days leading up to his suicide. The Mossad, Bakshi told me, had been secretly monitoring Kurt Schwaller for at least the past two years because of his Palestinian sympathies and were now piecing together his computer activities by recreating his monitor displays from the detailed heat signatures they’d collected. The technology was available, Bakshi assured me. It was possible. I was more worried when Ziggy the Ohioan opossum injured his left leg. “Oh my God, what happened?” Yvette asked when she saw his bandaged limb. “You told me to be more physically active, so I tried out for the soccer team, mom,” he answered. “Did you make the team?” My wife’s breath smelled like black coffee. “No, but I sure broke my leg.” After pausing for some canned laughter, Yvette waddled obligingly toward Ziggy. “Well, you should at least have some of my homemade pasta,” she said. I made eating noises. “Do you know why they call it pasta, mom?” My wife turned from the monitor to look at me. “I don’t,” she said in her normal voice. “Because you already ate it,” I said. We laughed, concocted ever sillier plot lines and watched the webcam late into an unusually warm May night.
In June, I returned to work and Pillow joined the list of pregnant mammals now past their due dates. She ate and drank regularly, and other than waddling when she walked she was her old self. My wife started to show signs of pregnancy in June, too. It made me happy even as it reinforced the authenticity of the coming known unknown, as a former American Secretary of Defense might have called it. My wife developed the habit of posing questions in pairs: do you love me, and what do you think will happen to us? Am I the woman that as a boy you dreamed of spending your life with, and if it’s a girl do you hope she’ll be like me? Sometimes she trembled so faintly in her sleep that I wasn’t sure whether she was dreaming or in the process of waking. I pressed my body to hers and said that I wished I could share the pregnancy with her. She said that it didn’t feel like it was hers to share. She said she felt heavy. I massaged her shoulders. We kept the windows open during the day and the screen mesh out because the insects that usually invade southwestern Ontario in late May and early June hadn’t appeared. Birds and reptiles stopped laying eggs. We luxuriated in every bite of pancake that we topped with too much butter and drowned in maple syrup. We talked openly with our mouths full about the future because the world around us had let itself descend into a self-censoring limbo. The opossum webcam went dark. Bakshi dropped by the apartment one night, unannounced and in the middle of a thunderstorm. There was pain on his face. “What if what Kurt Schwaller meant was that fate was not inevitable until we made it so,” he said, sobbing. “What if our reality was a series of forking paths and by discovering the theory of everything we locked ourselves forever into one of them?” Jacinda had left him. “You’ll get her back,” I said. My wife made him a cup of tea that he drank boiling hot. He put down the cup—then picked it up and threw it against the wall. “I’m sorry,” he said. “I just wanted to see if I could do something that I didn’t really want to do.” I bent down to pick up the broken pieces of porcelain. “You’ll get her back, Bakshi,” my wife said. Rain dripped onto our table from the ends of his black hair. “I don’t think so. I think we’re locked in and Kurt Schwaller took the only way out there is.” We didn’t let him go home. We discretely took all the knives from the kitchen and hid them in our bedroom, and did the same with the medicine in our bathroom, and Bakshi slept on our sofa, snoring loudly. He was still sad in the morning but felt better. We ate scrambled eggs, knowing that unless chickens started laying them again we were having a nonrenewable resource for breakfast.
Time was nonrenewable. My wife and I tried to take advantage of each second. But for every ten things we planned, we only did one. Our ambitions exceeded our abilities. On some days we were inexcusably lazy, lying in bed together until noon, and on others we worked nonstop at jobs like painting the walls, which later seemed insignificant. We considered leaving the city when the smog got too thick and renting a cottage in the country but we didn’t want to be without the safety of the nearness of hospitals and department stores. When we were scared, we made love. We ate a lot. We read short stories to each other. Outside our apartment, the world began to resemble its normal rhythms, with the exception that everywhere you went all the women were visibly pregnant. Some tried to hide it with loosely flowing clothes. Others bared their bellies with pride. I flirted with a supermarket cashier with an Ouroboros tattoo encircling her pierced belly button. After she handed me my change I asked her if she’d had it done before or after March 27. “Before,” she said. “What does it mean?” I asked. “That people have been making up weird shit for a long time and we’re still fucking here.” In Pakistan, the United Nations uncovered a mass grave of girls killed because they were pregnant—to protect the honour of their families. When I was a kid in Catholic school, my favourite saint was Saint Joseph because I wanted to love someone as much as he must have loved Mary to believe her story about a virgin birth.
On July 1, we subduably celebrated Canada Day. On July 4, my wife shook me awake at six in the morning because she was having back spasms and her stomach hurt. She got out of bed, wavered and fell and hit her head on the edge of a shelf, opening up a nasty gash. I helped her to the bathroom sink, where we washed the wound and applied a band-aid. She tried throwing up in the toilet but couldn’t. The sounds of her empty retching made me cold. The cramps got worse. I picked her up and carried her out of the apartment—Pillow whined as I closed the door—and down to the underground garage, where I helped her into the back seat of our car. Pulling out into the street, I was surprised by the amount of traffic. It was still dark out but cars were already barrelling by. On Lake Shore, the traffic was even worse. I turned on the radio and the host was in the middle of a discussion about livestock, so I turned the radio off. Farther in the city foot traffic joined car traffic and the lights couldn’t have changed more slowly. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw women collapsing on the sidewalks, clutching their stomachs. I kept my eyes ahead. At a red light, a black woman kept banging on the passenger’s side door until I rolled down the window. She asked if she could get a ride. I asked to where. “To the hospital, where else?” she said in sing-song Jamaican. I let her in and at the green light stepped as heavily on the gas as I could. In the back seat, my wife’s eyes were barely open. The Jamaican woman was in better shape. Noticing my concern, she said, “Don’t worry yourself none. I was like that this morning, too, but I’m better now. It comes and then it goes.” I was still worried. The streets around the hospital were packed with parked cars, but I found a spot by turning the wrong way up a one way street. The wheel hit the curb. I got out. The Jamaican woman helped me with my wife, and the three of us covered the distance from the car to the hospital in minutes. Ambulance sirens wailed close by. I heard the repetitive thump of helicopter blades. I glanced at my watch. 7:24. In the hospital, the hallways and waiting room were packed. There was standing room only. I left my wife leaning against a sliver of wall and ran to the reception desk. The Jamaican woman had disappeared. When I opened my mouth to speak, the receptionist cut me off: “Just take a seat, Mister, same as everybody else. Stay alert, stay calm. If you need water you can get it down the hall. We’re trying to get as many doctors down here as we can as quickly as we can, but the roads are jammed and there’s more than one hospital. That’s all I’ve been told.” I relayed the information to my wife word for word, once I found her—the waiting room was becoming encrusted with layers of incoming people—and then they shut the hospital doors—and my wife nodded, looking at me with eyes that wanted to close. I kept her lids open with my thumbs. My watch read 7:36. I wanted to tell her I loved her but was stupidly embarrassed by the presence of so many people who might laugh. I didn’t want to be cheesy. “It comes and it goes,” I said, “so just keep your eyes open for me until it goes, please.” She smiled, and I touched my lips to hers without kissing them. Her lips were dry. Around me shouts were erupting. There was a television in the corner of the waiting room, showing scenes of crowded hospitals in Sydney and Paris, and violence in Rio de Janeiro, where families huddled together in the streets while men, young and old, flung rocks, bricks and flaming bottles at a cordon of black-clad BOPE behind which politicians and their families were running from shiny cars to state-run clinics. My wife’s weak voice brought me back to the present. “What do you think happened to Monsieur Charles?” she asked. “I don’t know, but I’d guess he’s probably just getting ready for work now,” I said. She smiled and the pressure on my thumbs increased. Her eyes started to roll back into her head. “Don’t go away,” I said. “Don’t leave me.” I felt her eyes sizzle and shake like frying spheres of bacon. I couldn’t hold them open anymore. I didn’t know what to do. The shouting in the hospital had devolved into chaos. “Do you know why they call it pasta?” I said. I didn’t expect her to answer. I didn’t expect any reaction, but, “Because I already ate it,” she said, smiling—and it was the last thing she ever said, her last smile I ever saw, because in that moment there was a horrible whine that made me press my fists against my ears and in the same instant every woman in the hospital exploded.

Since

Blood, guts and bone shards blanketed the surfaces of the waiting room, making it look like the inside of an unwashed jar of strawberry jam. My wife was gone. Every woman in the room was gone. The space behind the reception desk stood eerily empty. The television in the corner was showing the splattered lens of a camera that a hand suddenly wiped clean—its burst of motion a shock to the prevailing stillness—to reveal the peaceful image of a Los Angeles street in which bloodied men and boys stood frozen, startled…
I was too numb to speak.
Someone unlocked the hospital doors but nobody entered.
The waiting room smelled like an abattoir.
My clothes smelled like an abattoir.
I walked toward the doors, opened them with my hip and continued into the morning sunlight. I half expected shit to rain down from the skies. If I had a razor blade in my pocket I would have slit my wrists, but all I had was my wallet, my car keys and my phone. Sliding my fingers over the keys reminded me how dull they were. I didn’t want to drive. I didn’t want anything, but if I had to do something I would walk. I stepped on the heel of one shoe with the toe of another and slid my shoe off. The other one I pulled off with my hand. I wasn’t wearing socks. I hadn’t had enough time to put them on. I threw the shoes away. I wanted to walk until my feet hurt so much that I couldn’t walk anymore.
I put one foot in front of the other all the way back to my apartment building, waited for the elevator, and took it to my floor. In the hall, I passed a man wearing clean summer clothes. He didn’t give my bloody ones a second glance. I nodded to him, he nodded back, and I unlocked the door to my apartment and walked in. My feet left footprints on the linoleum. A dark, drying stain in the small space between the fridge and the kitchen wall was all that was left of Pillow. She’d squeezed in and died alone. I took out a mop and rotely removed the stain. Then I took off my clothes, flung them on the bed, which was as unmade as when we left it, took a shower and laid down on the crumpled sheets beside the only pieces of my wife that I had left. My sleep smelled like an abattoir.

2020.09.24 06:37 THROWRA_howto Wondering if I [22M] should break up with my first real GF [24F]

Hey, TLDR and important BOLD bit at the bottom.
Gonna try to keep it short Its incredibly long, I bolded important bits but its gonna be long more than likely. Before reading, I really love this girl, thought she was the one for a while now, she is mostly nice to me, great at cooking (dinner almost every night), fit, sex has been great (up until these issues really started). Really looking for some advice, please skim!
We have been living together since about March (she moved into my place when COVID got going, we moved in together early July). For the first year to year and a half of our relationship, I felt like I was chasing her, always trying to please her and do what she wanted, and now I have taken my priorities into account a bit as well and try to find middle ground. I had noticed things wrong with our relationship in the past but sorta brushed them off and not sure I should have now, let me know what you think. I think it is worth mentioning that I spent a LOT of my childhood (5 years or so) in the house with my parents (sibling at college) and they argued very loudly and very frequently. I promised myself so many times before I knew a thing that I wouldn't find myself in a relationship like that, and I'd do my best to always be patient and objective with the people I hold close. It is also worth noting that my best friend broke up with his girlfriend of ~2 years a few months ago, and I may be thinking the grass is greener on the other side - why I'm posting here to get some anonymous unbiased opinions. I guess I am just afraid of tossing a relationship out the window in fear I might not find anything as strong.
Firstly, she is really impulsive and sometimes self-centered (more on that next paragraph). Last year she found cheap tickets to Oktoberfest and wanted me to buy them with her on the spot. I hesitated and she said she was going to go ahead and book them with her cousin, and I could buy them another time if I decided I wanted to join. She asked me a few months earlier to go to Spain with her since she found cheap tickets again, and again I hesitated and she wouldn't stop asking until I gave into her like 48 hours later. I am not this impulsive, I'd like to think through it and take my time. With her I feel rushed so often it honestly gives me anxiety. She rushes through things all the time, forgetting small bits and pieces, it leads to me having to double check small things I ask her to do like shut off the air conditioner etc. Recently for example she ordered one piece (big deal, probably $2,000 dollars) to her construction site when the plans said they needed two. Her deadlines are really tight and knowing her I honestly bet she skimmed the drawings and didn't see a number so assumed one. Things like this happen at home, we have a gate we keep closed that keeps our dog from running free in the (fenced in yard) all the time and recently I spent like 8 hours laying down sod in our back yard so we need to keep it closed for 2-3 weeks until it takes or the dog will ruin it. So many times I have asked her to keep it shut, she left it unlatched twice just today.
As for self centered, we live in a pretty high cost of living area, and I fortunately have a friend who lets me park my car in his driveway for free! I met him because my GFs friend was dating him for a summer and we hung out alot and really got along. They broke up, and I still talk to him and see him occasionally. He makes some pretty immature comments sometimes (uses terms like "hey daddy" to say hi to me, things like that). I have never responded the same way to him and have told him to stop - but I think hes a good guy at the end of the day and so we are still friends. She berated me one day because she wanted me to stop parking my car through him so we could cut ties with him all because of these stupid comments he makes. Cars are my #1 hobby, and the next closest place I could store mine for free is 45 minutes away by car. For me it is an obvious choice to leave it here and be acquaintances with this guy, what do you think? It is worth mentioning that she compared me cutting ties with this guy to her cutting ties with her prom date after he was hitting on her at a bar drunk while I was there. Hard to believe she would say those two relationships are the same. Another one, one weekend she visited her friend in another state, and I dropped her off at the airport, drove her car to my brothers house, did a brake job on her car the next day, drove back home, helped her friends get into her apartment, then had 2 drinks with my roommate. Her roommate (who I grew to be friends with, her best friend since childhood sent us a text about how some boy had just shown her up and since I was around the corner I went over and basically just told her stuff would be okay, I think we hugged once and then I left. She immediately told me she thought she could trust me, but now had no trust in me whatsoever and was questioning our relationship - she thought I would even consider cheating on her and I have no reason to lie to you all, it never even crossed my mind. When I picked her up from the airport the next day she said hi, immediately took my phone and read all messages between her roommate and myself, and didnt talk to me or look at me the entire car ride home. She got even more upset because I asked her roommate what was going on since they were also in contact and said I really didnt expect this type of reaction out of her. It seems like big time jealousy to me since she is ignoring all the facts, what do you think?
She is also really impatient, we got this dog during COVID because she realllly wanted one. Sent me links and links a day to get one before I even agreed with her that we should. After getting denied multiple times, she found one that we had a good chance with that was EXACTLY the same as her parents dog. We both agreed as almost our #1 rule that we did not want a dog like her parents. I was willing to wait for the right one, she was willing to throw out our agreement to get a dog as soon as possible. Not my style, very much hers (she actually drunkenly bought a dog with her ex years ago which he now has). Come to mention it, she also pushed me into a relationship with her only 3 months after she broke up with her ex of 3+ years. I had no idea about it at the time, but it again shows her putting her priorities in front of someone who meant something to her because she didn't want to wait.
She gets very defensive and angry during disagreements. We recently (3 weeks ago) went on a 9 day road trip together. We had to fly to our first destination, and while we were at my parents house for a celebration, my parents (both doctors) said they would definitely not get on a plane right now because of COVID. I brought this up to her and she said she has done her own research and all of our activities are low risk (plane to Los Angeles, visiting national parks, restaurants, bars, and camping). I somewhat agree, but also they aren't really no-risk scenarios and I wanted to give my parents some thought. She got really angry about it and when asked said she would be very upset with me if I decided to cancel it. She said my parents had a get together so she doesnt appreciate that they get to break their own rules. I agree but it isn't reasoning to do something dumb, and I don't do that whole eye for an eye thing especially with my parents. It also shows a lack of respect for my parents, I really want her to like them and it is all but said that she doesnt. She also really wants to move to another state. Over our road trip we got in a big argument over this each time it was brought up. She said we could really benefit from a lower cost of living to help us save, and it would be a good experience. I did some math and based on her "research" we would save about 5% of our combined income per year on rent which isn't that big a deal in the grand scheme. I like where I live. We are close to our parents, friends, hobbies and interests, have stable and promising jobs, etc - I don't want to move just to move but she can't understand this and it seems like she is just coming up with things like cost of living that might convince me to change my mind. Is this kindof manipulative?
Basically, since we got back from that road trip last week I have been thinking these may not work out in the long term:
- When we first met I wasn't really as attracted to her as I was to the idea of having a consistent girl (I know it isn't very nice but its true). We got into our relationship because she sorta demanded a relationship. It was the best decision of my life up until recently.
- I find that I am doing a lot for her that I honestly don't think she would do for me. I do almost all the dishes and all the laundry since I work from home. If her workout is going to impede my plans for our Saturday, she will fit it in, but if mine were to impede hers she'd tell me I can just work out another time for example.
- Sometimes she is just flat out mean, she gets visibly angry and loudly sighs when the house isn't clean when she comes home (bed isn't made well, dishes aren't done) again because I work from home. We have both agreed my job is more demanding on time than hers, and I do those things 90% of the time before she even gets home at like 2:30 even though my work ends at around 5. I end up feeling bad for not doing these things but truth is I've been working all day and honestly haven't had the time - that isn't right.
- An IMPORTANT one: Her active lifestyle might not match mine in the long term. She wanted this puppy during quarantine, I gave in; she wants to move to another state for the experience and wants me to give in; she told me she wants to try to take a 2 month hiatus from work with me and do another road trip (would be a BIG financial loss since we'd have no collective income for 2 months, which makes her concern with cost of living seem purely manipulative). In the future I feel like she will want to move somewhere permanently which I won't want to do. She has said she will get a boat wherever she goes since she grew up with one, I have no real desire to get a boat. She mentioned getting a second dog, I think one is enough responsibility for now. She will want me to give in each and every time which will make me resent her and I won't which will make her resent me. Bad to resent each other! I look forward to having lazy Sundays, sitting there watching football getting stuff done around the house, while she looks forward to the plans she has usually made for Friday/Saturday and Sunday each week which tires me. Not a bad quality for her to have, just doesn't match up with mine.
Basically what is holding me back from breaking up with her is that I live with her (I would be okay with living together each in our own bedroom and on our own schedules, we wouldn't see each other all that much), have a dog with her, and have a strong relationship with her parents/family. I've asked her mom and dad for advice I haven't asked my parents for because I think they are better suited. I guess I am just afraid of tossing a relationship out the window in fear I might not find anything as strong. I dont have the experience to know if all great relationships have differences like this.
TLDR: First girl I've ever really loved, she is a great cook, funny, fit, shares some interests with me. She is also very different, not careful like I am, very impatient whereas I am the exact opposite, super high energy always wants to move and groove whereas I like to relax. I think these things might make us resent eachother in time. The paragraph above this is really important if you want a longer TLDR.
If you want to keep reading lol I'll add stuff here as I think of it.
Our anniversary this year! Last year on our first I was really infatuated with her and made our anniversary absolutely perfect. This year money is tighter, COVID is weird, we still ended up going to a local tourist island for our anniversary. The day was going incredibly well, we got to dinner and somehow it came up that her dad always makes jokes about us getting married. I basically said he needs to hold his horses a bit and be patient. She hated this, got angry and upset, said when we moved in together she thought it was basically understood I would probably propose pretty soon. I'm not all that deep in my first relationship, I can't be thinking about marriage just yet. I thought shed understand but she said it changed her view of our relationship completely.

2020.09.24 06:19 spacepatrolluluco I hate myself for day dreaming about having a possessive abusive partner

My parents are controlling and abusive, so I already know it's awful, but somehow I still deeply crave it.
My parents fucked me up. Since birth probably. My brother and I are both somehow inept at dating. We've both never had like, "real relationships". Ever.
Anyway, nobody I've ever dated has ever loved me and honestly most have somehow just not even liked me.
I've somehow been bullied for being unfuckable my entire teens-present day, by literal adults.
I moved to Los Angeles to escape my parents but because of insanely bad luck ive had to keep them in my life. I've never ever had a support system. Everyone values their boyfriends over friends.
I know you're probably picturing someone super ugly or antisocial or something, because why else would no guy want to date me?
I've got social media accounts with literal thousands of outright fans. I've been guests at huge events. I went out four times a week before the pandemic.
I wouldn't call myself a super model, but I'm not hideous by any means.
I deeply crave the feeling of someone choosing me. Of being jealous of other people talking to me. Of wanting control over my life. Of caring enough about me to literally do anything. Of thinking Im worth anything.
I day dream about having a shitty boyfriend who pressures me into losing weight. I fantasize about dating someone who makes enough money to try to control me financially. Just having someone in my life even like me enough to want to control me.
At least I'd be financially secure and physically slim enough for the next guy to want to date me.
I've tried to date. So much. The only men who will treat me like anything other that got garbage are losers with no job. The one I let even date me ended up not even having a working dick. Im not allowed to have anyone be even remotely nice to me and have a single standard for a relationship.
I know it's fucked up because people have so much trauma over these relationships and I know it would be awful. I'd absolutely never say any of this in real life, especially not to people who were abused.
But it's how I feel. I think my life will never be good and nobody will ever love me without abusing me, but I pray nightly that someone does someday who will at least give me stability no matter how cruel they are.

2020.09.24 06:13 TheMidnightArchive The Abduction and Murder of Amber Hagerman

A Trip to The Grocery Store
The late winter in Texas is a mild time usually, with steady wind and a biting chill in the air. The season is one of change, the life force of the previous year is fading away to succumb to a newness imbued by the heat of the Spring and Summer. January 12th, 1996 in Arlington, Texas was no different, the sun was shining, the wind was steady, and the temperature hovered around the mid-sixties. On this day Donna Whitson and her two children, nine-year-old Amber and five-year-old Ricky Hagerman were in Arlington visiting Donna’s parents, Glenda and Jimmie Whitson. The family arrived at their destination around 3pm and upon disembarking Donna’s car the kids asked to ride their bikes, the ones that Donna had her parents keep at their home for them. Donna, without a second thought, assented to the request with the limitation that the kids stay within a block of their grandparents’ home. She wanted them to be safe.
Once astride their bicycles and away from nagging adults, Amber disregarded the boundary set upon her and her brother. Amber led Ricky to the local neighborhood play spot, a shuttered Winn-Dixie grocery store and after approximately 15 minutes of riding around the parking lot and loading dock the younger Ricky was ready to turn back home, whether out of fear of being beyond their boundary or being tired is unknown. What is known is that Amber had elected to stay and ride her bike around the parking lot of the store on her own for a while longer, that Ricky went home alone, and that in the intervening time something horrible would happen to Amber that would shape substance and conscious of the her family forever.
On January 12th, Mr. Jim Kevil was sitting on his back porch looking out over his yard and fence, a view that happened to encompass the next-door Winn-Dixie store’s loading dock and the street it was on. Around 3:15 pm Mr. Kevil saw a lone young girl riding a colorful bike around the grocery store loading dock when a dark colored truck quickly pulled into the parking lot. Jim Kevil would later state that the driver of the truck was either white or Hispanic and between the ages of 25-40, this unknown subject grabbed Amber, who let out a scream and began kicking her abductor. The driver then put Amber in his vehicle before he sped off West bound down Abrams Road. Not just a passive witness, Mr. Kevil called 911 to report the incident to the police and to try to aid in the capture of the kidnapper and the return of the little girl. This would be the last time that anyone would see Amber Hagerman alive.
After arriving home alone five-year-old Ricky Hagerman was sent by his family back to the Winn-Dixie to retrieve his sister. Turning his bike around Ricky did as requested, only to return to an empty parking lot. Only a brief eight minutes had elapsed since he had last seen his sister, but it was too late; Amber was gone. Ricky once again arrived alone to the Whitson home prompting Grandfather Jimmie Whitson to race to the store in his car to search for Amber himself. Jimmie would arrive at the store at about the same time as an Arlington police officer, summoned by Jim Kevil’s 911 call did; the only remnant of Amber was her abandoned bicycle.
Law Enforcement, including the local police and the FBI (involved as a result of the pleas of Amber’s distraught family), coupled with a mass of volunteers began a wide net search for the missing girl, but came up empty. Amber had vanished.
Discovery
January 16, 1996 is a day that Amber’s family will never forget. Four days after she had been taken by an unidentified male from that Winn-Dixie parking lot, Amber Hagerman’s body was discovered in the early morning hours by an anonymous man walking his dog near the Forest Hills Apartment Complex in Arlington, Texas. Her body was found face down in a creek approximately 4 miles from her abduction site. Prior to this, apartment maintenance workers had been in that area and seen nothing, suggesting that the remains were either placed there after the workers had left or moved down stream by a torrential rainstorm that had just occurred. Amber’s family was informed shortly after the discovery, shocked they initially refused to believe the news with her father quoted in a New York Times article written at the time as saying, “She’s still alive” to the reporters covering the case and camped outside the Whitson home.
Amber was discovered wearing nothing but a single sock and the medical examiner would later confirm investigators suspicions, there was evidence of sexual assault and physical abuse, the cause of death: lacerations to the neck and throat. Additionally, the medical examiner stated that there was evidence that Amber had been kept alive for at least two days after her abduction before she was murdered, and her body disposed of.
Investigation Still Ongoing
More than 20 years later the investigation is still technically ongoing, to date the Arlington Police Department (APD) has not formally announced that they have any suspects or persons of interest. APD Detective Ben Lopez stated in a recent interview that the APD still receives tips regularly regarding the case and the department thoroughly investigates each one like it could be the piece of the puzzle that finally gives Amber’s family closure and justice.
An explanation of this unsolved murder most likely lies in the fact that Amber’s body was left in running water for an indeterminate amount of time, coupled with the storm that raised the creek level and most likely moved the body from the dump site, forensic evidence would have been all but erased and any physical evidence diluted or washed away. Not helping the investigation is the fact that there is only one witness to the crime: Jim Kevil was the sole person to come forward with information regarding the abduction, despite the fact that Amber was taken in broad daylight on a residential street. To date no one else has come forward with evidence or statements to aid in the apprehension of the unknown subject. Some reports assert that this is a result of the immigrant community in the area and the traditional apprehension of this population in talking to law enforcement thought that remains unsubstantiated speculation.
It is believed that Amber’s abductor and murderer was a stranger to her given that he took her by force and did not attempt to talk her into his vehicle. With this, I agree with the official narrative. Where I differ is on why Amber was taken. Based on the speed at which the abduction occurred it suggests to me that Amber may have been watched for some time before being taken. As stated previously Amber Hagerman was abducted in a window of approximately 8 minutes from when her brother left and then returned to bring her home. The official narrative is that this was an act of extreme opportunity when the perpetrator just happened to be driving by when he saw her alone. This would suggest that there was an event that triggered sporadic actions in the perpetrator, to quote a popular television show there must have been a stressor that induced this action.
Regardless of the why, the fact of the matter is that Amber Hagerman’s killer is still at large. He has gone unpunished for his heinous actions against this innocent little girl and by extension her family. As a result of chance and a fluke of nature no evidence or additional witnesses remain of what happened on that fateful winter day. Amber’s killer is nameless, and her family is left with no closure or answers, only questions and heartache.
Possible Suspects
Richard Lee Franks
Richard Lee Franks was charged on March 16, 2000 with the aggravated kidnapping of Opal Jo Jennings from Saginaw, a town a few miles north of Fort Worth. On March 26, 1999 6-year-old Opal was playing with her 3-year-old cousin in a vacant lot next to her grandparent’s house when Franks pulled up to the lot in his black Mercury Cougar. He then exited his vehicle and approached the kids feigning conversation with them. When Franks was close enough, he plucked Opal off the ground, punched her in the chest and put her in his car. What happened next was not unlike in Amber’s case, a large-scale search was launched for Opal led by her family and the local police department, it would not be for five years that Opal would be found. Her remains were discovered in a wooded area while two individuals were riding their horses along a remote trail. As a result of the state in which the remains were found, there was little physical or forensic evidence. What was clear was that the cause of death was most likely the result of a blow to the head. Franks would later be charged with Opal’s kidnapping but not her murder as there was no evidence to prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that Franks had indeed murdered her. In fact, he claimed that he had driven her to a local store to get a drink and left her there. What lends credence to Franks as a potential suspect is the similarity between Amber and Opal, and the way that they were taken. Both were seemingly impulse driven abductions based on the speed in which they occurred.
This link between Opal and Amber was not solely based on the research of internet sleuths. Mark Simpson, an investigating officer in the Hagerman case in an address to the National Children’s Advocacy Center’s 26 Annual National Symposium on Child Abuse to the fact that Franks had prior criminal history involving children, all young, brown haired girls and that Opal’s kidnaping occurred in the same county as Amber’s. Based on proximity, prior history, and similarity in method at the very least one could expect that APD would investigate Franks as a person of interest however, that has not been the case.
Terapon Adhahn
Born in Bangkok, Thailand. Terapon immigrated to the United States as a child when his mother married a U.S. serviceman and he returned to the United States. As he grew older Terapon would become a Buddhist monk as well as follow in his stepfather’s footsteps and join the U.S. Army. Adhahn has been connected to (either directly as the known perpetrator or suspected) multiple offenses, both resolved or unresolved, against children throughout Washington State including rape, kidnapping, and murder. He has also been questioned in connection the Amber Hagerman case by APD though has not been named as an official suspect.
In 1990 Adhahn was charged with sexual assault against a 16-year-old relative. This charge would result in him being forced to register as a sex offender and enter rehabilitation but as a first offense was not enough for him to be deported.
On May 31, 2000 an 11-year-old unnamed (for reasons of privacy) Spanaway County Girl was abducted on her way to school. She was bound and taken to a secluded training field close to the Fort Lewis Military Base where she was repeatedly assaulted over the course of an hour. After the assaults Adhahn left her bound on a road nearby where she would be discovered walking, still bound with her eyes taped over, by a Tacoma City Police Officer.
In December 2005, Adre’anna Jackson would also be abducted on her way to school, she disappeared from Lakewood in Pierce County, Washington and was never seen again. Over a year later, April 2006, skeletal remains were found in a field near her Tillicum neighborhood. Investigators showed pictures of Adhahn to residents who identified him as a known handyman who frequently worked in the area. He is regarded as a person of interest in this case.
On July 4, 2007 Zina Linnik had been watching a firework display with her siblings on a hilltop near her home when her father, Mikhail Linnik, on his back porch presumably also watching the display, heard his daughter cry out. When he arrived at the spot that Zina was taken all that was left was a single shoe she had been wearing, Mikhail also saw a gray Chevy Astro van speeding away and he was able to partially make out the license plate. Four days alter Terapon Adhahn was arrested for the kidnapping of Zina. However, this speedy apprehension was not enough, on condition of prosecution not seeking the death penalty, Adhahn led investigators to the remains of young Zina Linnik. She had been strangled with a zip tie though Adhahn would claim that her death had been an accident.
Additionally, while living in the Tacoma area, Adhahn was responsible for the care of an unnamed (again for the sake of privacy) 12-year-old girl. Her mother allowed the girl to live with Adhahn since she was unable to provide for her daughter, Adhahn only a “friend of her mother’s boyfriend”. Over the course of the next three years Adhahn would subject the young girl to repeated sexual assault, stopping only when she was able to run away after being assaulted at gun point.
Why Terapon Adhahn? It has been reported that, coupled with his extensive and horrendous history with children, Terapon lived for a time with his aunt in the Fort Worth area around 1996. During the investigation, law enforcement noticed striking similarities in the method of kidnapping, assault, and victims in the Adhahn case and with a few officers having been trained in Texas for the Amber Alert System, were familiar with the Hagerman case. Additionally, he used a similar vehicle in the Fort Lewis incident as was seen in Amber’s abduction. Terapon has been question regarding Amber's abduction and murder though not formally named as a suspect or even a person of interest.
Similar Cases
Heidi Seeman – San Antonio, Texas
On August 4, 1990 11-year-old Heidi Seeman was walking home from a sleep-over at a friend house the previous night. Her unnamed friend walked Heidi a part of the way home, to a midpoint between their houses at the intersection of Stahl road and Willow Run Street. Approaching the intersection Heidi’s friend as well as neighbors in the area reported seeing a red car with dark tinted windows pass by the girls slowly, and the driver watching them intently. Thinking nothing much of it, the girls parted ways and Heidi was never seen again. On August 25th, 1990 her remains were found in Hays County, Texas. No additional details were released regarding her death aside from the fact that a medical examiner ruled her death as a result of homicide.
Erica Botello – San Antonio, Texas
Closer in circumstance to Amber Hagerman, 7-year-old Erica Botello was taken on August 23, 1990 from the playground (or road next to depending on source) near her apartment complex. She was not unsupervised or alone the entire time she was playing. Erica was with her Father however he stepped inside for a brief time. When he went back outside, Erica was gone. Her remains would be found on August 25, 1990 in a storm drain about a mile from her home and abduction site. There is little information regarding Erica’s as she was and is eclipsed by the case of Heidi Seeman, a young white girl just a few years older than Erica, a girl of Hispanic dissent, from a wealthier side of San Antonio to the working class area that the Botello family lived in. Any information found on Erica is usually limited to brief sentences and always in tandem to Heidi.
Legacy and Aftermath
What happened to Amber Hagerman is not a mystery, it is known. She was taken from her family, held and assaulted over the course of two days, killed, and her body was disposed of in a creek not far from her abduction site. Her killer did all of these things without leaving any evidence, and slipped away. What isn't known is who did those things to her? Was it someone she knew? Had that person been watching her? Was this all really the result of chance and opportunity? One can hope that these questions, and more, will be answered one day but with each passing day the possibility that they never will be becomes all the more real.
It has been 24 years since Amber Hagerman was abducted and murdered yet her legacy lives on.
Amber’s abduction and murder was the impetus for the creation for the AMBER Alert System. This is a coordinated effort between law enforcement, radio, television, and cellphone broadcast systems to alert the general public in the region of an abduction to the incident and any information that law enforcement has on the abduction such as their physical description as well as the description of the vehicle they were last seen with. This system has resulted in the safe return of almost 1,000 children in the United States since its inception as a regional program in 1997, then national (and international) in 2000 however it is also under scrutiny for saving so few and being so annoying as an alert results in an alarm blaring through the device that receives it, and for saving so few. Critics question whether it saving just one life is worth it, is saving so few worth it?
I say yes.

The Abduction and Murder of Amber Hagerman

2020.09.23 12:38 wecanfindthetruth What exactly is Project Sigmund? (shimmering lights in the sky). Help me find out.

Many of you may have noticed an increase of sighting videos over the last several months that show dozens of shimmering lights in the sky. Sometimes during the day, but also at night. A lot of these have been dismissed as skylink launches, lanterns, birds, etc, but I am not personally convinced any of those are an adequate explanation to what we are seeing.
In addition to these poor explanations, we have a couple instances of a more cryptic answer. In at least two of these sighting threads, a user has responded with the title "Project Sigmund," and nothing more. When probed for elaboration they are unable to provide any.
The two users I have found that posted something about Project Sigmund are the following:
iofas_iso
5C_Attica (this person has also posted tremendous amounts of other claims, yet was unwilling to elaborate on Project Sigmund)
Below, I have compiled a list of all the recent sightings I have been able to find. The ones marked with an X are the ones I am less convinced are Project Sigmund, but still potentials.

2020.09.23 08:31 ElectricalGrab8 Southern California Escrow probably won’t close on time due to Buyer side

We have had 2 extension of time amendments totaling 2 weeks because of a significant repair that needed to be done.
Today (9/23) is our scheduled closing date. The repairs are all done, however, I was informed that the Buyers will be signing their loan documents in the morning (9/23).
I’m in Los Angeles. Is it possible to close today (9/23) if that is when the Buyer signs the loan docs? My basic understanding is escrow officer has to send the loan docs back to lender, and they review the docs, and then issue funds, and then deed needs to be recorded before keys are transferred and it is not done in one day.
Do I need to do anything to protect myself as the Seller? Do I need to send another ETA to the Buyer for 1 day? Is missing the closing date by a day or two enough for either party to break the deal? I do not want to break the deal, but I am slightly concerned if Buyer wants to based on final walk through done the other night and getting cold feet.
Also the property in question is a furnished investment property. I have had the unit mostly packed and ready to move on day of closing, but I do not want to move everything out of the unit if for some reason the deal falls through, so I’m keeping everything in there until I know the recording is on its way to be confirmed.

2020.09.23 01:47 Leather_Term Revealed: Bill Clinton’s Intimate Secret Dinner With Ghislaine Maxwell

thedailybeast.com Sep. 22, 2020
The former president invited Ghislaine Maxwell to a cozy dinner in L.A. in 2014, years after she had been accused by a victim of procuring girls for Epstein’s sex ring.
After a star-studded gala in February 2014, Bill Clinton and his entourage headed to a vegan restaurant in Los Angeles for an intimate dinner with friends.
Their destination was Crossroads Kitchen, a Melrose Avenue hotspot that counts Beyoncé, Christina Applegate, and Katy Perry as fans, and features a menu with artichoke “oysters,” hearts of palm “crab cakes” and tagliatelle “bolognese.” That night, the restaurant was bustling. One insider spotted producer Jerry Bruckheimer and actor Bruce Willis, while TMZ recorded actor Sean Penn gliding through the front door.
Producer Steve Bing—Clinton’s friend, major Democratic donor, and investor in the restaurant who died by suicide this year—was already there waiting for the former president.
Former Clinton staffers Ben Schwerin, a future Snapchat executive, and then-talent agent Michael Kives were also invited to the swanky soiree.
But two other unlikely guests joined the party that night: British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell—accused of procuring underage girls for sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein—and tech CEO Scott Borgerson, now rumored to be her husband.
According to information obtained by The Daily Beast, Clinton’s advance team secured seating for the invitees and specifically noted Maxwell and someone named “Scott” had RSVP’d for the Thursday gathering.
Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation say aides had squabbled over Maxwell’s invitation beforehand due to her links to Epstein. Even to this day, Clinton insiders continue to point fingers over who should be blamed for Maxwell’s addition to the event.
The sources told The Daily Beast that longtime Clinton gatekeeper Doug Band cut Maxwell out of the president’s network in 2011 before he left Clinton’s employ the following year. (Band flew on Epstein’s private jet, including for Clinton’s 2002 humanitarian trip to Africa, and was listed in Epstein’s Little Black Book.)
Information obtained by The Daily Beast indicates Jon Davidson, Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, knew Maxwell was attending the 2014 dinner, which he helped to organize. Davidson did not return messages seeking comment.
“This is an intimate dinner with Clinton in L.A.,” said one source who was disturbed by the decision. “Think of all the people he knows in L.A., and Ghislaine gets to attend.”
Schwerin told The Daily Beast he has no recollection or record of being at the dinner, while Kives said he did not attend and has never met Maxwell or noticed her at other Clinton dinners.
Angel Ureña, a spokesman for Clinton, declined to comment and referred The Daily Beast to a statement he issued in 2019:
“President Clinton knows nothing about the terrible crimes Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to in Florida some years ago, or those with which he has been recently charged in New York. In 2002 and 2003, President Clinton took a total of four trips on Jeffrey Epstein’s airplane: one to Europe, one to Asia, and two to Africa, which included stops in connection with the work of the Clinton Foundation. Staff, supporters of the Foundation, and his Secret Service detail traveled on every leg of every trip. He had one meeting with Epstein in his Harlem office in 2002, and around the same time made one brief visit to Epstein’s New York apartment with a staff member and his security detail. He’s not spoken to Epstein in well over a decade, and has never been to Little St. James Island, Epstein’s ranch in New Mexico, or his residence in Florida.”
One friend of the Clintons told The Daily Beast that Ghislaine was close to Clinton and daughter Chelsea, went backstage at Clinton Global Initiative events, and even visited their homes. The source said the Clintons should take responsibility for spending time with Maxwell, who allegedly offered the Clintons hotel stays, air travel, and other largesse.
“It’s always someone else’s fault, it’s always not true,” the friend said. “They’re always fighting against the reporting and not that they did it. That’s the problem.”
By the time of the Crossroads dinner, the press had widely reported on Epstein’s abuse of girls at his mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, and lawsuits filed by victims of his trafficking scheme.
Claims of Maxwell’s involvement were known to Clinton staffers in 2011, when the Daily Mail reported on survivor Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who said Epstein and Maxwell trafficked her to Prince Andrew when she was 17. The report included a photograph of the British royal posing with Giuffre at Maxwell’s London home. In the picture, Maxwell smiles in the background as Andrew grips Giuffre’s bare waist.
It’s unclear why Maxwell was reintroduced into Clinton’s circle—at least for one cozy meatless dinner in Los Angeles on Feb. 27, 2014.
The night of the dinner, one person remembered Borgerson in particular because he wasn’t Ted Waitt, Maxwell’s ex-boyfriend and the billionaire Gateway co-founder. Waitt is a friend and supporter of the Clinton family, donating at least $10 million to the Clinton Foundation. “She had dated Ted Waitt for some time, so for her to go to a dinner like that, with someone who’s not Ted, was indicative that things moved on,” the source added.
TMZ reported Clinton dined with Penn that night but didn't mention any of the other boldfaced names. The gossip site published video footage of Clinton slipping into the back of the restaurant after a Secret Service motorcade parked, and of Penn striding through the entrance, ignoring a stringer’s questions about meeting Bill.
Hours earlier, the men rubbed elbows at the Unite4:Humanity gala at a Sony Pictures Studios lot, where singer Demi Lovato and other celebrities took selfies with the former president. Clinton, who received a “unity recognition award,” was the keynote speaker.
Clinton flew to New York the next morning, but Maxwell stayed in California. Three days after the group dinner with Clinton, Maxwell attended the Vanity Fair Oscar bash in West Hollywood, where a photographer snapped her with Elon Musk (who, in response to Twitter critics, claimed he was photobombed).
Another source with long ties to Clinton told The Daily Beast they were relieved Page Six or another outlet didn't catch wind of the gathering.
In 2014, Maxwell worked to reinvent herself through her oceans nonprofit, the TerraMar Project, and was photographed at a slew of society parties. She jet-setted to Alaska for the Iditarod, and spoke at a UN roundtable, Google’s Ocean Agenda conference, and a TEDx conference in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Maxwell, now awaiting trial for perjury and grooming girls for Epstein, was friendly with the Clinton clan for years. She had a front-row seat at Chelsea Clinton's wedding in 2010, reportedly as Waitt’s plus-one, at the Astor Courts estate in Rhinebeck, New York. Maxwell, Chelsea, and husband Marc Mezvinsky “flew together on a private plane to rendezvous with Waitt for a trip on Waitt’s yacht” around that time, Politico reported.
Last year, a spokeswoman for Chelsea told CNN the former first daughter was only acquainted with Maxwell because of Waitt.
Still, Maxwell’s ties to the Clintons run deeper. As The Daily Beast previously revealed, Maxwell and Epstein attended a reception at the White House during Clinton’s presidency. Bill and Hillary Clinton hosted the 1993 event for donors to the White House Historical Association, which funded Oval Office renovations including gold draperies and a new rug.
Maxwell’s dubious charity, the Max Foundation, showed a $2,500 contribution to the “Clinton Library and Foundation” in 2003. And in 2002 and 2003, the socialite traveled with the former president when he took trips on Epstein’s plane throughout Asia and Africa. Maxwell also flew from Miami to Westchester County, New York, with a group that included Epstein, Clinton, Secret Service agents and Sarah Kellen, Epstein’s personal assistant and alleged accomplice.
In 2009, one attorney for Epstein victims hired an investigator to serve Maxwell with a subpoena as she schmoozed at the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting in New York. “To say she was upset about being publicly served at this function is an understatement,” attorney Brad Edwards wrote in his book.
Clinton isn't the only high-profile politician under fire over ties to Epstein and Maxwell.
President Donald Trump palled around with Epstein in the '90s and at least until 2002, when he called the hedge-funder a “terrific guy” in an interview with New York.
“I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it—Jeffrey enjoys his social life,” Trump told the magazine.
In 1992, Trump held a “calendar girl” competition at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, and Epstein was reportedly the only guest.
The same year, Epstein and Trump were videotaped at what appears to be a different party at Trump’s private club. Found in NBC archives, the footage was for a talk-show profile on Trump’s new life as a divorcee. The men ogle women on the dance floor, and Trump apparently tells Epstein, "Look at her, back there. ... She's hot." Epstein smiles and nods before collapsing into giggles after Trump whispers something in his ear.
Jane Doe, one survivor of Epstein’s sex ring, said the financier introduced her to Trump in 1994, when she was 14 years old. Her lawsuit said Epstein “elbowed Trump playfully” before asking, “This is a good one, right?”
“Trump smiled and nodded in agreement,” Doe’s complaint alleges. “They both chuckled and Doe felt uncomfortable, but, at the time, was too young to understand why.” (Doe does not accuse Trump of any misconduct.)
Epstein and Trump “were good friends,” Epstein’s brother Mark told the Washington Post, adding that Trump flew on Epstein’s plane “numerous times.” The financier’s address book contains multiple entries for Trump and now-First Lady Melania.
The men supposedly had a falling out over real estate in 2004, when Epstein tried to outbid Trump in a bankruptcy auction for the Palm Beach mansion of nursing home magnate Abe Gosman, according to the Post.
Three years later, Page Six reported Epstein was banned from Mar-a-Lago.
Trump also apparently hobnobbed with Maxwell. At a COVID press conference in July, Trump told reporters he met Maxwell “numerous times over the years” but couldn’t answer whether he thought the beleaguered socialite would spill dirt on other famous people accused of partaking in Epstein’s trafficking scheme.
“I don’t know. I haven’t been following it too much,” Trump said. “I just wish her well, frankly. I’ve met her numerous times over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach. I guess they lived in Palm Beach. But I wish her well, whatever it is.”

How do I get around?

To and from LAX: Flyaway shuttles from LAX to Downtown Long Beach. (General Site: https://www.flylax.com/flyaway

Uber and Lyft: This is pretty self-explanatory.

Long Beach Transit - Public Transportation - Bus - This is pretty self-explanatory. General Site

Long Beach Aquabus/Aqualink - This is a ferry that sails from one end of the Long Beach waterfront to the other. General Site

Catalina Express - The boat ferries passengers from Downtown Long Beach to Catalina Island. General Site

What should I see and where are the non-touristy stuff and hidden gems?

History:

* Have breakfast or brunch on the Queen Mary (not exactly off the beaten path, but also not to be missed)
* Walk or bike down Long Beach, or book a Harbor Tour to learn more about the harbor and history of LBC
* Visit and tour Rancho Los Cerritos and/or Los Alamitos
* Walk around (or rent a boat and row around) Marine Stadium, home of Olympic rowing competitions, or watch a rowing competition (look up the rowers association or dragon boat racing competitions)
* Dinner (fancy) at Parker's Lighthouse or (less fancy) get a sunset view at the patio at Belmont Shore Brewery

Art:

* Visit MOLAA and the lesser known Pacific Islander art museum across the street.
* Grab a cup of coffee and catch some live music while admiring the art at Viento y Agua or Portfolio coffee houses
* Check out a 2nd Saturday art walk in the Arts District or First Friday's in Bixby Knolls, or visit a weekly Farmer's market (Tuesday nights at Cherry and Broadway is one)
* Book a date for two where you learn about clay and make your own cup/bowl/plate on a wheel at Clay on First

* Visit the aquarium of the Pacific on a weekday afternoon (tip: they feed the big sharks outside at 2pm, and you can often find discounted tickets online, or see sharks and listen to live music outside on Friday's)
* Take the murder mystery paddle boat dinner cruise

Where should I live? What's x area like?

Bluff Park and Belmont Heights are about as lovely as Long Beach gets.

Bluff Heights is a really historic and charming residential neighborhood.

Alamitos Beach is gritty, charming, and has a youthful energy and a great proximity to other areas. Parking is notoriously bad here and most buildings and homes don’t come with parking.

Bixby Knolls is up towards the northwest side of the city and has some of the city’s most gorgeous Old Money residential areas, and a lot of new restaurants and businesses popping up. It almost feels like a whole other city separate from Long Beach.

The Eastern half of Long Beach (close to Cal State Long Beach) feels much more suburban and residential, and has nice areas like Los Altos and Recreation Park.

Downtown is overpriced and overrated, but it may be your thing.

Try to stay south of 4th St, and definitely south of 7th.

So much of this depends on where exactly your job is located or what vibe you want.

Is x area safe?

Long Beach is relatively safe but can change drastically block to block. Best areas to look for are about 4 blocks from the beach, Bixby Knolls, Belmont shore , east Long Beach by the university /605 freeway, and the area between signal hill / Bixby Knolls is nice.

The overall crime rate in Long Beach is 25% higher than the national average. For every 100,000 people, there are 8.86 daily crimes that occur in Long Beach. Long Beach is safer than 13% of the cities in the United States.

Miscellaneous Questions:

Internet - Spectrum and Frontier are the top two. A lot of areas only have 1 or 2 options at most. Spectrum and Frontier are similar in quality with Spectrum maybe slightly coming out on top.
Here is a site that ranks them: https://www.highspeedinternet.com/ca/long-beach?zip=90814
Air Quality - https://www.iqair.com/us/usa/california/long-beach

Tips for posting:

Tell us about you - If you want us to suggest things for you to do then you need to give us a good idea of what you enjoy. Don't just say "I like music", say what type of music. Don't just say you want "somewhere nice to eat", say what type of cuisine you like (or don't like). The more specific you are the better, otherwise you'll just get pointed back to the generic guidebooks, blogs and our wiki (coming soon!).

Tell us your budget - If you're on a budget then tell us what it is and we can bear that in mind when making recommendations. There's no point in us coming up with ideas for things to do and places to eat if they'll clean out your wallet within the first 5 minutes. Saying you want something "cheap" isn't really helpful because what's cheap is entirely subjective.

Tell us where you'll be based - Let us know where you'll be staying so that we can give local recommendations.

Asking about hotels or hostels - We have homes here so know very little about what the hotels are like. Look on review websites such as TripAdvisor. However, if you say "I've been looking at these three hotels. Which do you think is the better location?" then that's the sort of thing we can answer.

2020.09.22 21:43 thesnowqueen89 does anyone want to go with me to lover fest west night 2

(i’m not sure if this post is allowed under the “no personal sales/requests” rule. if it’s not i’ll take it down)
update: it's looking like the first person who messaged me is going to be able to go, but of course, that could all change when taylor announces the show dates. if they can’t go, i’ll go down the list in order of when each person messaged me until someone can go. i really wish i had tickets for all of you :(
a little problem: i was about to accept more requests when my computer died. when i plugged it in, even more requests had come in and apparently reddit only allows a max of 6 requests at time. the newer requests pushed the older ones off the list. so if you sent a message request before 12:56 and i haven't accepted it, please send it again letting me know that you sent it earlier and i'll bump you to where you were on the list originally.
original post: i’m dumbass and i bought 2 tickets to lover fest west night 2 without actually having someone to go with, thinking i’d easily find someone. spoiler: i haven’t found someone. i posted about this on tumblr, but i didn’t get any takers, so i’m turning to y’all.
preferably i’d like someone to actually go with me, instead of just buying the ticket off me, which is why i’m not reselling it on ticketmaster. also, taylor hasn’t announced when the new show dates are, and probably won’t until the fucking pandemic is over, so i have no idea when the show would be, other than it’s in 2021, at the earliest. it’s in los angeles.
if anyone is interested, please message me!

Everything You Need to Know About NFR

Beyond the payouts for the Cowboys, the PRCA estimates that the event brings in about $90 million annually to the Las Vegas economy. Furthermore, recent attendance stats have shown that 177,565 rodeo enthusiasts decked out in Wrangler jeans, Justin boots and cowboy hats attended events at the Thomas & Mack with an additional 40,000 fans who watched at the 40 hotels who hosted watch parties. It is during this rare time of the year that many marquees on the Strip have the face of bull riders replace DJs’ faces.

Main Performance

Seven main events have historically taken place at the NFR. Each event has its own monetary prizes that are paid out, and those payouts are determined by each top-placing competitor’s rank in relation to the event’s overall prize pool. Individuals placed in the top-six of a particular event are paid out accordingly, while individuals placed in the top-eight of the overall NFR are also paid out. The NFR’s main events are as follows:
  • Bareback Riding
  • This consists of a horseback cowboy using a bareback rigging as the primary means of staying on top of the horse. This grip has often been compared to the equivalent of hanging on to a suitcase handle and makes for the only support that a cowboy has on top of the wildly bucking horse. An 8-second ride constitutes a qualified ride and the cowboys is judged on riding technique.
  • Steer Wrestling
  • This act involves a horseback steer wrestler, alternatively known as a “bulldogger”, bringing a fast-moving steer to a halt on its back as fast as possible. The bulldogger utilizes a combination of strength, technique, speed, and precision to jump off of their horse from a designated starting point and onto a steer sprinting off from the same starting point.
  • Team Roping
  • Headers
  • One of two horseback team members whose job is to successfully rope the head of the steer in one of three tries as fast as possible; around both horns, around one horn and the head, or around the neck.
  • Heelers
  • One of two horseback team members whose job is to successfully rope the hind legs of the steer as soon as the header has successfully done their part. To avoid a 5-second penalty for roping only one hind leg, the heeler must rope both hind legs.
  • Saddle Bron Riding
  • Similar to Bareback Riding, the goal of the horseback cowboy is to maintain their balance as much as possible for 8 seconds while the horse is bucking. In this event, however, the cowboy sits on a saddle while using one hand to hold on to a thick rein that’s attached to the horse’s halter.
  • Tie-Down Roping
  • This event centers around a cowboy on horseback attempting to restrain a calf by throwing a well-timed rope loop that’s attached to the cowboy’s horse. The cowboy and the calf both leave from a designated starting point, with the calf getting a slight head-start. The cowboy depends on the horse to mitigate any slack in the rope after dismounting, then proceeds to tie-up the calf as fast as possible.
  • Barrel Racing
  • This is a women’s event where horseback cowgirls race against the clock to complete a strategically set course where barrels are set up as landmarks. The intent is for the cowgirls to complete a cloverleaf-shaped run around 3 barrels placed in a triangular formation as fast as possible. Barrels that are accidentally knocked over result in 5-second penalties.
  • Bull Riding
  • The cowboy on top of the bull has the main objective of staying on top and maintaining their balance for 8 seconds. They are judged based on technique and can earn extra points by spurring while the bull is bucking. The cowboy stays on top of the bull by grasping a flat braided rope, which also wraps around the bull’s chest.
  • All-Around Champion
  • Being crowned the All-Around Champion speaks volumes about the versatility and high level of talent exhibited by the winning cowboy. In order to receive this honor, the cowboy must have won the most prize money in a given year and competed in at least 2 NFR events while earning at least $3,000 in each of those events. This is widely known as the highest honor bestowed by the PRCA.

Contestants

There are 120 cowboys from all over the United States that will step foot as competitors within the NFR. A full list of the contestants can be found on the event’s Contestant Roster page. The top 10 ranked competitors are as follows:
  1. Tuf Cooper – Tie-Down Roping
  2. Trevor Brazile – Tie-Down Roping
  3. Sage Kimzey – Bull Riding
  4. Tim O’Connell – Bareback Riding
  5. Jacobs Crawley – Saddle Bronc Riding
  6. Caleb Bennett – Bareback Riding

Super Bowl of Rodeo

The NFR has consistently been referred to with this phrase because of the sheer massiveness of its popularity and money-generating power within the context of rodeo. The event is considered to be so big and consistently sold-out that the UNLV basketball team that normally uses the NFR’s venue during the season has to annually build its schedule in a way that keeps the team on the road for the duration of the NFR festivities.

Miss Rodeo America

This event is a pageant that takes place in conjunction with the NFR as part of the NFR’s overall festivities. State rodeo queen winners from across the United States compete for the Miss Rodeo America crown and put themselves in line to potentially win $20,000, among other smaller prizes. In addition to the prizes, the winner is expected to travel to various rodeos throughout the United States and to promote the rodeo during the subsequent year.

Wrangler NFR Preshow

The former Miss Rodeo America titleholder is no stranger to the excitement of the “Super Bowl” of Western competition, with six years of WNFR reporting under her belt. She is most excited about bringing the pre-show to the fans. Be prepared for this Wrangler NFR Preshow, don’t miss a single moment of the Pro Rodeo live action.

Cowboy Christmas

For those that need a break from the constant adrenaline that comes with the NFR’s main events, the Cowboy Christmas experience allows for a welcomed change of pace. This portion of NFR centers around cowboy shopping and serves as a marketplace for hundreds of exhibitors from the United States and Canada to sell to thousands of eager buyers. Typically taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Cowboy Christmas will also move to Arlington, TX in 2020. All exhibitors will have the opportunity to Opt-In/Opt-Out for 2020.

Standings

The 2019 PRCA season has been extremely competitive as a lot of the top cowboys are gunning for glory. Tuf Cooper sits atop of the all-around standings and many experts believe that he is going to win his second all-around title in a row. There will be a lot of close competitions and many of the world championships could come down to the last day. You can check the current standings here.

NFR Prize Money

The total payout for the entire event is $10 million and will remain at that amount until 2020. After that, the amount will be adjusted and remain in place for the subsequent five years. All 120 qualifying contestants receive $10,000 as part of participating. This year’s detailed payout structure can be found on the PRCA’s 2019 Wrangler NFR Payoff page.

Final Words

All in all, the National Finals Rodeo is a landmark event and a de facto defining period of time within any given rodeo year. For anyone who is a fan of rodeo, the main events and the surrounding festivities are must-see events and must-participate experiences if the financial means allow for it. Don’t miss a minute of the exhilarating NFR live stream action this year from December 3rd until December 12th.

2020.09.21 03:25 17MYR Celebrity in a small town [F4A]

The town of Weston could be described as the middle of nowhere. No one came, no one went. The news filled mostly with local school events, parades around the holidays, and obituary entries. Sleepy, sure, but there was a charm to it.
Thousands of miles away in Los Angeles, Katherine Comer was on top of the world. The world-famous singer was on tour promoting her most critically-acclaimed album to date. The tall blonde singer enjoyed every moment until she caught what felt like a cold. Congestion, a sore throat... the basic components of an illness easily conquerable. One always came when touring, what with the late nights, contact with so many strangers, and high strenuous activity. The cold passed, but when she attempted to sing, nothing came out.
Panic quickly rose amongst her and her team and she was ushered from doctor to doctor, specialist to specialist. Everyone believed she looked fine health-wise, but the fact of the matter was, she couldn’t sing any more.
Tour ended abruptly for undisclosed personal and health reasons. Kate continued to try and find her voice but without it, she didn’t have anything to offer to the world of music any more. She disappeared, too mortified and embarrassed to face the world she used to run.
Slowly, Kate let go of members of her team until only her publicist remained, although needlessly. She suggested a change of scenery could work wonders for the star. What her publicist didn’t expect is how seriously the star would take the advice. She tried to find somewhere no one would expect to find her. She made no headlines and no fuss about it and quietly moved into a rather average tudor style home in a quiet neighborhood.
Thanks for sticking in there if you read this far. I’m looking for someone to play as someone in the town Kate moves to. You can make your character your own, really. Any occupation, life, etc. We can discuss how they run into each other and it could start cold at first and warm up as we develop the relationship between the characters. If you have questions, let me know and I’d love to form a story collaboratively, so please message me if interested. I’m looking for descriptive partners who are literate and can write 3+ paragraphs, and even longer when applicable.
